Pompeii was destroyed and completely buried during a long catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius spanning two days in 79 AD. See what remains of the villas of important families of that time - some with beautifully preserved wall frescoes - as well as the forum, amphitheater, public baths and even the local bar.
